# The Payment Story Your Business Should Be Able to Tell

**Audience:** small-business owners, nonprofit and association leaders, retail and hospitality operators, professional-services firms, local IT and web providers, Chamber staff and facilitators
**Duration:** 30 minutes
**Program:** WACK-CHAMBER-0001

## Promise

Members leave able to describe their payment journey, identify the people and providers around it, name the records they should maintain, and know which questions require current program or assessor direction.

## Run of show

1. Five minutes: why payment security is an operating responsibility rather than an annual form.
2. Seven minutes: sketch one ordinary customer payment journey and one alternate or failure path.
3. Five minutes: mark provider, member, and shared responsibilities without deciding SAQ eligibility.
4. Five minutes: identify recurring work, retained records, and changes that reopen the story.
5. Five minutes: walk one fictional Main Street scenario and expose the first unknown.
6. Three minutes: assign one owner and one question for the acquirer, provider, or qualified professional.

## Member takeaways

- One completed payment-journey sketch, one provider question card, and one named follow-up owner.

## Facilitator boundary

This independent practitioner resource is education, not a PCI DSS assessment, applicability decision, validation instruction, legal opinion, incident-response directive, or statement of a Chamber's position. Members should confirm validation and reporting direction with their compliance-accepting entity, typically their acquirer or payment brand as applicable.

_Use fictional or member-supplied sanitized examples. Do not ask attendees to disclose account data, credentials, incident details, or sensitive architecture in a group setting._
